ASPEN, Colo., May 17. Wines of Chile will feature twelve
of the top Chilean wineries at the Food & Wine Magazine
Classic in Aspen, Colorado, June 16-18. This year marks
the second year that Wines of Chile will be featuring
its selection in Aspen. This event comes just three
months after Wines of Chile hosted its Four City Wine
Tour across the U.S. Wines of Chile will be located
in the Grand Tasting Pavilion.
"The past several years have afforded
Chile the opportunity to cultivate and perfect the next
generation of Chile's premium varietals," explained
Ricardo Letelier, Managing Director of Wines of Chile.
"The U.S. market is currently the number one destination
for Chilean wine exports and we believe that the success
of our wines in this market reflects both the supreme
quality and value that people have come to expect from
Chile. We look forward to showcasing our best in Aspen
again this year."
In addition to tasting more than 50
types of wines from twelve producers in the Wines of
Chile section of the pavilion, visitors will have the
opportunity to learn about some of Chile's premier wines
from acclaimed wine writer and lecturer Anthony Giglio.
Mr. Giglio will be conducting two seminars on his topic
"Red Hot Chile." The seminars will be held
on Friday, June 16th from 10:00am - 10:45am and from
2:00pm - 2:45pm.
"Chilean wines, particularly the
reds, are especially hot right now," said Giglio.
"Chile's terroir and diversity in climate gives
these wines a uniqueness and quality that is not found
anywhere else in the world."
To further enhance the Chilean experience,
explora Lodges in Chile will be offering a sampling
of classic Chilean cuisine in the Wines of Chile section
of the pavilion. Executive Chef Laurent Pasqualetto
will be on-site cooking throughout the event, enabling
participants the opportunity to pair traditional fare
with wine from Chile. The cooking demonstration will
include sopaipillas, a quick-fried, small bread round
made from flour and pumpkin puree, accompanied by pebre,
a salsa-style combination of tomatoes, chiles, cilantro
and cochayuyo mixed together with white vinegar &
lemon.
